About

We all need help with growth and change. That’s my job – not just job, but my joy in life – to help others move along their path with greater ease. I believe we can learn to attune to our intuition, and when we do, we realize that we already have the innate intelligence to respond most effectively to the difficult issues that are part of living a human life.

I have a variety of methods I use to empower clients, including conventional Western psychotherapy techniques, such as attachment theory, behavioral and psycho-dynamic theory. I also have found equally, if not more effective, somatic Eastern traditions, such as yogic philosophy, mindfulness and breath work to help us become more peaceful and centered in our lives. To that end, I find nontraditional settings such as seeing clients out in nature, or in the privacy of their own backyard to be a very productive method for growth.

Treatment plans are always tailored to your individual needs and strengths – don’t worry – I’m not going to ‘make’ you do anything you don’t want to – it’s entirely up to what feels right to you!

I also realize that difficult tasks are best accomplished with a healthy perspective and a dash of humor. One of my favorite quotes is  ‘life is too important to be taken seriously.’  So while any psycho-therapeutic endeavor might involve some deep and challenging work, it doesn’t mean that it can’t have elements of fun and joy at the same time.

In addition to seeing private clients, I also conduct well being and meditation seminars for corporations and private groups, as well as mother/daughter and women’s groups.

“I came to the retreat not knowing what to expect, but I left with new friends, and a deeper sense of appreciation for myself and my life. I now count on nature, Julie’s guidance, and this community of women as an important part of my life.”  Nicole J.

“Thanks for your assistance and positive vibes – you’re the best.” Nan P.

“So kind and rational, Julie helps me make sense of things and provides a fresh perspective when it feels like life is crashing down around me. She gently nudges me towards coming to my own conclusions about problematic behaviors, instead of insisting or judging. She has gone overboard to check in when I’m away and genuinely cares about my well being.” Lilly J.

Julie Hale represents the necessary accord between contemporary and ancient mental health tools. She combines her western mental health expertise with careful attention to Yogic philosophy understanding and practice.
